π Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh okra, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)

- Prep the Okra
- Wash and slice okra into bite-sized pieces.
- Pat dry to remove excess moisture.
- Prepare Breading Station
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Eggs + buttermilk (whisked)
- Bowl 3: Cornmeal mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
- Coat the Okra
- Toss okra in flour
- Dip into egg mixture
- Coat well in cornmeal mixture
- Heat Oil
- Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry
- Fry in batches for 3β4 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden and crispy.
- Drain & Serve
- Remove and place on paper towels.
- Serve hot.
