π Ingredients
- 3β4 large green tomatoes (firm, unripe)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)

- Slice Tomatoes
- Cut green tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices.
- Lightly season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare Breading Station
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Eggs + buttermilk (whisked together)
- Bowl 3: Cornmeal mixed with paprika, salt, and pepper
- Coat the Tomatoes
- Dredge each slice in flour
- Dip into egg mixture
- Coat in cornmeal mixture
- Heat Oil
- Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry
- Fry tomatoes in batches for 2β3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain & Serve
- Remove and place on paper towels to drain.
- Serve hot.
