π Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 5 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional but classic Southern touch)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

- Preheat & Prep
- Preheat oven to 325Β°F (165Β°C).
- Grease and flour a bundt or tube pan.
- Cream Butter & Sugar
- In a large bowl, beat butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5β7 minutes).
- Add Eggs
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Combine Batter
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the batter.
- Mix until smooth, then stir in vanilla and almond extract.
- Bake
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake for 1 hour 15β20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve
- Let cake cool in pan for 10β15 minutes, then remove.
